The company operates its mining leases for mine gas extraction at all locations of the closed mines in the Ostrava-Karviná mining district. The company purchases superfluous volumes of mine gas from active mines which they are incapable of utilising for their own needs. As the holder of appropriate licences and authorisations, the company is also engaged in survey, extraction, distribution and the sale of mine gas.
In 2005 the company launched combined production of electric power and heat from mine gas in cogenerating units with gas piston engines. The successful first installation was followed by a development programme of about 30 cogenerating units operating at closed and active mines of the Ostrava-Karviná mining district. This long-term programme has become a key activity of the company.
Contractual performance of in-mine boreholes in active mines at the Ostrava-Karviná mining district (Czech Republic) has a tradition lasting over 40 years. Since the mid 1990´s the company has also been performing drilling works from the surface. The operation range of the borehole drilling programme outreaches the Ostrava-Karviná district and covers the whole territory of the Czech Republic and also Slovakia as concerns boreholes for heat pumps.
The company provides special engineering services for deep black coal mines in the Ostrava-Karviná mining district (Czech Republic) and abroad. Our experts solve complex issues concerning degassing and aeration of mines, mine geomechanics, geophysics, geology and hydrogeology focused at active and closed mines. Locations with closed mines benefit from the gas-prevention programme with the aim to protect the local population and buildings from mine gas emissions to the surface.
The Laboratories and Test Rooms were originally oriented to the needs of active mines in the Ostrava-Karviná mining region. The main task was the mineralogic-petrographic determination of coal and determination of coal and associated rocks, mechanic rocks and mine waters analyses. Gradual recession in the mining industry raised the issue of obliteration of mining activities.
CMM Services departement provides engineering solutions for the underground coal mines in the Ukraine, Turkey and Russia. The primary goal is to create optimum gas drainage system based on evalution of mine geological and technical conditions.
