The company was established in 1960 with the original mission to ensure prevention of gas emissions and protection from water outbreaks into mine workings and degassing of prospective allotments of black coal deep mines in the Ostrava-Karviná mining district (OKR).
The company’s activities gradually expanded to the provision of comprehensive engineering, drilling and laboratory services for OKR mines aimed at protection from dangerous phenomena in rock massifs upon coal extraction.
As a response to the reduction of coal extraction at OKR in the 1990´s, the company became more oriented to new projects focused on the removal of the consequences of mining activities on the surface. Of special concern was the sanitation of old mine workings and emissions of gas to the surface. The company took control over the central gas pipeline network for the distribution and sale of mine gas from OKR mines and acquired licences for gas production. Extraction of mine gas was also commenced at OKR closed mines.
The trend toward the expansion of services provided outside OKR mines continued and has speeded up after the year 2000. Our laboratories perform analyses of all elements of the environment including services for the food industry and health care. The drilling works division has been equipped with special drilling machinery and technology for heat pump boreholes. The first cogenerating unit producing electric power and heat from mine gas was put into operation in 2005.
Until February 2008 it operated as a part of OKD, a.s. holding.
At present the company is a part of the supranational company Green Gas B.V. Based on this fact, the name of the company has been changed to Green Gas DPB, a.s.
The company meets standards of the Integral Management System (certification under EN ISO 9001, EN ISO 14001and OHSAS 18001), and is also accredited under the Czech standard EN ISO/IEC 17025 and authorised under Act No. 258/2000 Coll., on protection of public health, as amended.
